With Valentine’s Day and President’s Day coming up, we’re set for a long weekend. So what better time than now to take a break from our responsibilities and have some fun? Below we’ve put together a list of 5 enjoyable things to do this weekend in hopes of making you feel inspired. Let us know what your plans are!
1. Go Sledding
Right now there’s still enough snow to pick up a sled and race down the hill. Whether you go in your back yard, a friend’s house, or head out to Cascade’s, sledding can be a fun way to get outside while feeling some adrenaline run through your veins!
2. Make a Pizza
Is there anyone out there who doesn’t like pizza? It can take literally any form! Pepperoni, cheese, seafood, alfredo, gluten free, meat lovers, breakfast, veggie, cheeseburger, even dessert pizza! So pull out your chef’s coat, (or in my case an old t-shirt and sweats), and whip up your favorite concoction of toppings for a delicious pizza.
Side note… Apparently February 9th is National Pizza Day, so this definitely sounds like a necessary way to celebrate to me!
3. Read a Book
Did you now that The Hub has recently started a virtual book club? We pick one book a month to read, and update with where we’re at on our social media. In February we are reading “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, and good news, it’s a short book so you still have plenty of time to catch up!
Not your cup of tea? That’s totally fine! Start a new book of your choosing. Maybe read a new article that interests you, or catch up with a magazine you’ve forgotten about. It doesn’t really matter what it is, reading can be a fantastic way to take a break from your everyday responsibilities.
4. Movie Marathon
It’s cold. It’s windy. It’s snowy. It’s likely that you don’t want to go outside at all this weekend. So make the best of the situation by creating a cozy retreat in your own home to have a movie marathon! Disney, Marvel, Christmas, Thriller, Romance, Will Smith, Adam Sandler, Michael Bay, the theme list can go on and on… Pick some of your favorites or make a list of films that you haven’t seen. However you choose to do it, a movie marathon is a great choice for a long weekend!
5. Plan a Digital Detox
If we’re being honest, we could all use a digital detox. Every day we use our phones, computers, televisions and Alexa/Google devices for an obscene amount of time. Even some of our refrigerators and microwaves have built in technology to access the web! So maybe this long weekend is a good time to take a break from that technology. Find something else to occupy your mind. Write a story, play a board game, create art, reorganize your room. Whatever you do, make it work for you!
